Most Common Excuses Not Too Exercise- How to combat them

There are a million excuses you can use not to exercise, and I have heard so many, and I am also guilty of them. Even when I'm very tired and super busy, I have to push myself not to let my excuses overshadow my goals. To reach our health and fitness goals, we all need to stop making excuses not to exercise. Whether you feel too tired or you think your too busy to fit in exercise, there are ways to keep your workout going and putting those excuses at bay.

Here are some of the most common excuses that I have heard not to exercise – and how to combat them.

 You’re Too Tired

“I’m too tired to exercise.” Well, little did you know, once you start exercising it will actually boost your energy rather than sap it. It does this by firstly, by improving your sleep. Secondly, exercise releases endorphins, which will boost your energy levels in their own right as well as reducing anxiety, which will again help with sleep.

You’re Too Busy

This is the most common excuse I hear. If something is a priority, you will make time for it, so make exercise a priority and make time for exercise. Scheduling your workouts into your calendar the same way you plan work meetings, coffee dates, or other commitments. Commit yourself to your workouts.

If you really don’t have any time in your day, why not try to wake up a little earlier to fit it in? Or why not try a workout during your lunch break, even if you only have time for a quick 30 minutes. You will get an energy and endorphin boost to get you through the rest of your day.

Bad Weather

Most people are more inclined to snuggle up on the sofa watching Netflix when it is cold and wet outside rather than to head out for a workout. But bad weather should never stop you getting the exercise you need. Just kit yourself out with the right workout gear to embrace the British weather!

Alternatively find an indoor space, whether it be your bedroom, a gym or your kitchen, all you need is a small space to get your workout done. There are plenty of ways to exercise in even the smallest of spaces, a personal trainer can help you make an exercise routine for when you’re at home and the weather is bad.

 I’ll Do It Tomorrow

This is another excuse I hear people use all the time. Putting exercise off until tomorrow won’t get you anywhere, there is no better time than right now. How to make sure you exercise? An easy way to combat this is by working out with a friend or hiring a personal trainer. Training with a PT or a friend will boost your motivation and stop you putting things off since you’re then not just letting yourself down, but also other people.

Exercise Is Boring

Another one of the biggest excuses not to exercise is that people find exercise boring. This is down to not doing the right exercise to get you excited about and make you actually look forward to doing a workout. By using a personal trainer, they can make you a personalised plan that you’re guaranteed to love. If you quickly get bored, a personal trainer can help change it up and keep you motivated to stick to your workout and the right trainer will make your workout fun.

It’s easy to make excuses, and I know it’s hard to break bad habits. Now’s the time to use these simple ways to stop putting off exercise and start exercising. Excuses don’t move us forward, excuses hold us back. So, stop making excuses not to exercise and start exercising today.
